1. Peking University

Peking University, a renowned research university in China’s C9 League, is a constant contender among the country’s best universities. Beijing-based Peking University was founded in 1898 and accepts many overseas students yearly. Since 1981, the university has collaborated with Germany’s Freie Universität Berlin.  According to the QS World Ranking, the university is ranked #14. The annual tuition fee is approximately 4,000 USD, and a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS is required to get admission. This university’s acceptance rate is 15%. 

2. Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University is a member of the esteemed C9 League and is located in Beijing, the capital of China. Founded in 1911, it currently enrolls over 46,000 students, including 2,700 international students. Tsinghua University ranks highly in architecture, medicine, literature, and engineering. It is among the top 15 universities in the world. The annual tuition costs about 5000 USD and varies depending on the course and program. 

3. Shanghai Jiao Tong University

This public university was established in 1896 in Shanghai China. The average tuition cost for an undergraduate and master’s degree is about 4000 USD, and for a doctorate, it is almost 6000 USD. It has a 32% acceptance rate.

4. Fudan University

Shanghai is home to four campuses of Fudan University. Another C9 league member and presently rated sixth in Asia, Fudan University is one of China’s most prestigious universities, with a current student enrollment of just under 32,000. Fudan University is ranked among the top 50 in the world in 30 subjects, including modern languages and management sciences. An IELTS score of at least 6.5 is mandatory. The average tuition cost is approximately USD 9000/year, and 32% of applicants are accepted to this university.

5. Zhejiang University

It was founded as a public university on May 21, 1897, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. This University provides undergraduate and graduate programs in social science, engineering, medicine, and information technology. It is ranked 44th worldwide. An IELTS score of at least 6.5 is required. The average tuition charge is roughly 5000 USD per year. This university has an acceptance rate of 28%. 

6. Beijing Normal University

Beijing Normal University is associated with China’s Ministry of Education and is located in Beijing, China. This 1892-founded university offers several master’s and doctoral programs taught in English, including those in public administration, environmental engineering, and economics. It is ranked 272nd in the world. An IELTS score of at least 6 is required. The average annual tuition cost is around USD 3,000. This university has a 30% acceptance rate.

7. China’s Renmin University

This university was established in 1937 in Haidian, Beijing. With 20,000 students enrolled overall, it provides scholarships along with an array of academic programs in fields like politics, law, humanities, science, and technology. This university is ranked #645 in the world. An IELTS score of at least 6 is necessary. The average annual tuition expense is approximately USD 3000. The cost of tuition may change based on the program. It has a 10% acceptance rate.

Visa Requirements and Documents

The two types of Chinese student visas, the X visa, or X1 and X2, are provided. The X1 visa is valid for five years, and individuals from any nation may enroll in undergraduate or graduate studies using it. The X2 visa has a six-month validity and is intended for training and language courses. The cost of applying for a Chinese visa is US$600. The success rate of Chinese visas for students from Pakistan is 80–90%. The following list of documents is needed when applying for a visa:
